The Alternative Education Center is an entire new campus for the School District of Indian River Co. It serves Adult Education and at-risk high school students. Summit is particularly proud of this facility, it is a new campus made up of several components. The campus consists of: Two existing classroom buildings that were relocated on site and remodeled into new classrooms, two new 2-story modular buildings for classrooms, an outdoor gym canopy, and a new building that houses administrative offices and a teaching kitchen. The project also included all site work, paving, brick pavers and landscaping.
The principal of the school, Mr. Bud Gill, was extremely pleased with the results and the service he received from Summit, and calls on us to this day for any construction needs.

At Gifford Middle School, Summit was put to the task of demolishing an old Gymnasium and re-building a new one, right in the middle of an active middle school campus. We accomplished this, much to the approval of the school principal, without incident. And through the Construction Management process, and the economy of using a mid-size contractor with lower overhead, Summit was able to save enough money from the GMP to install an entire outdoor courtyard with pavers and drainage system.
Project included: Demolition of existing gym-nasium and construction of a new 20,000 SF
gymnasium, including bleachers, wood gym
flooring & athletic equipment, locker rooms,
exterior covered hardcourts,sitework,paving,
utilities, landscaping and irrigation.
Note that this job was built concurrently
with the Alternative Education Center,
saving the School District thousands of
dollars in management fees.

This project consisted of several projects in phases. We were updating the existing High School stadium, but it needed to remain operational. First we constructed new Concessions and Bathrooms under the Home side of the stadium, next we built press boxes and updated Stadium lighting and lightning protection, and last we constructed the Concessions and Bathrooms under the Visitors side of the stadium. While these projects were under construction, the School District also needed other work done on this campus. Through the CMAR process, and because the Facilities staff were pleased with our work there, we were awarded an ROTC facility and some portables work at the High School. |

This project was initiated by the two catastrophic hurricane events of 2004. Building A on the Main Campus is an existing 40-year-old two story 25,000 SF building. It houses the college’s top administration & financial personnel -it was completely ruined by these storms. The second building was the IRA Facility on Tedder Road – it also sustained damage and required a complete renovation. Building A had to be repaired and re-occupied as soon as possible to keep the campus operating. Summit mobilized in a moment’s notice and assisted the owner in relocating, re-roofing, demolition of the interior, mold remediation, and completely re-designing and rebuilding the entire interior of
the building. Repairs included all new HVAC, electric, and communication systems. There were no plans or specifications nor was there time to create them. Summit and our TEAM designed and built everything with the owner’s staff as needed during the project construction. The owner re-occupied the second floor of the building within four months and re-occupied the first floor within six months. The IRA Facility was simultaneously repaired within that 6 month period, along with multiple other roofing and repair projects across the Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie area.

In this project, Summit performed work in several phases throughout the Fort Pierce campus. We designed the work, as well as executed the work, to alleviate drainage issues and provide a uniformity to the campus. The work included paver walkways, benches, gazebos, railings, and aluminum roof canopies. We performed each phase under constant student and faculty traffic.
